Living in the present.....
Someone has said in hell there is no present, just past (something to rue) and future (something to worry about).
We need to seize the present - so I will proceed to describe some recent past events (I've been on holiday - and it's a month since I've blogged), when I have been living in the present - you got it!!??
- attended BC Lions/Edmonton Eskimos game with brother and two nephews, and new friend Jack, and newer friend Dave - then went downstairs with some kids and met some Lions's players who are Christians, and who know that there is more to life than football
- golfed in Sechelt, with Bro. Bruce and two other friends - great scenery, conversation, four birdies to start!!
- bunked in/"mooched" with family at the Grand Hotel in Kelowna - what a nice spot hmmm.
- bunked in at friends apt in Vancouver Downtown east side - God there too
- heard a great gospel message at the War College, from a black preacher - gospel is good
- shared communion with seven senior citizen's at an Anglican service - God with us
- seafood fettucine at the Blue Heron/Vernon, on Okanagan lake
- branded my calf on the exhaust piple while getting on a motorcycle - the ride was great, the souvenir 16 days later is just healing
- had some heart to heart with friends - deep conversation, deepening friendships
- read "Renovation of the Heart"/Frazee-Willard, Rob Bell "Velvet Elvis", "Searching for Home" - good for the soul
- read Barney's Version/Mordecai Richler - heard of tormented souls - darkness reveals the light.
- Langdale ferry - sun, water, mountains - just a glimmer of creator - we can only take so much of God's revelation - we would be totally blinded by his glory - but it awaits us.
- White Rock pier/prayer walks
- "World Trade Centre" - people working together; "Pirates II" - people adventuring together; The Worlds' Fastest Indian - people dreaming together.
- Biking in Stanley Park; scrabbling in Ambleside Park,
- sometimes bored, sometimes anxious
- all times blessed and thankful, o so thankful
The pilgrim's calling is not necessarily to get to the right place, that's the work of the Holy Spirit, it is our calling to be attentive to the things Jesus is doing on the roead as we travel today.
I wouldn't trade any of the above (and what was recorded above, is only a smidgen) if it meant not seeing Jesus face.
Living in the present - at peace with God - shalom - why would we be anywhere else?
